I run an Integrative counselling & psychotherapy practice in London. I have expertise of working with a range of issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, self confidence, self esteem, work related stress, grief and loss, trauma and relationships through both short-term and long-term therapy.
My input is always client led with a particular importance placed on creating a trusting therapeutic relationship as a key to a successful outcome
I offer a warm and empathetic practice which is based on a belief that we all have the ability to overcome many and varied life challenges that come our way but that those resources may have been hidden under the burden of traumatic, abusive or simply not good-enough relationships that come to shape us and how we relate to the world around us. Attachment based practice rests on the well-established, trusted and effective psychodynamic theory, providing a framework for understanding how early relationships shape us into the adults we become.
The therapeutic process can provide an opportunity for you
~ to take time out for yourself
~ to focus on and explore your own needs
~ to come to understand issues that may be impacting your thinking & decision making process
~to challenge self-limiting beliefs and practices
~ to find ways of fulfilling your potential
~ to find new ways of seeing and understanding your life.
Metaphorically speaking, adjusting your sail to help yourself get to your desired destination of
a more satisfied and fulfilled life.
Talking is the main way of expression of emotion and thought but the understanding and
the process of awareness and healing is often enhanced by use of other techniques such as
SSP
(Safe and Sound Protocol)
Sand-tray therapy
Art therapies
- drawing, painting, poetry, drama, music, movement
Polyvagal Therapy
Internal Family Systems
Mindfulness and CBT
The
Walk-and-Talk therapy
is also a common option for individuals who find it easier to be
on the move and in that way access their thoughts and feelings.
(this is always and only if i believe that to be the best practice and in client's best interest)
Someone, somewhere, at some point said that
''I can't change direction of the wind . . .but I can adjust my sail to always reach my destination''
This insightful observation has inspired the way I approach the therapeutic work I do in my practice. The prevailing influences in our lives may be bringing us a lot of challenges
as we journey along but we can call upon and enhance the skills we already have to adjust the direction of movement and give our life direction, purpose and joy that may be alluding us.
